Uganda’s challenge is no longer just livestock production, it is the rising cost of feed and the waste of resources that could sustain it
The Challenge
For many livestock farmers, the biggest barrier is no longer the will to farm, but the rising cost and limited availability of quality feed. As fishmeal and soybean meal become more expensive and organic waste continues to accumulate unmanaged, farmers face shrinking profits while communities face growing environmental pressure.
Our Response
Farmplus exists to bridge these two challenges with one circular solution. We collect organic waste from markets, households, schools, food vendors, and processing facilities, and use it to rear Black Soldier Fly larvae that are converted into high-protein livestock feed, while the remaining frass is processed into organic fertilizer.

Our Impact
Our work has already helped farmers lower feed costs, stay in production, and build more resilient livelihoods. At the same time, we are reducing waste, creating jobs, and showing that what is often discarded can become a source of economic, social, and environmental value.
